I can hear you thinking; ‘what have biscuits got to do with business?’ You’d be surprised! In my day to day work I travel all over the UK, meeting some fascinating people and working in interesting places. I am sure that in your business you have visitors or subcontractors working on site, do you wonder about the impression of your company that they take away with them?

 In the last year we have experienced customer service and a welcome ranging from incredible to disappointing, from cup of fresh brewed expresso and a Fox’s golden crunch to no offer of a cuppa at all. See the link? I often find that the quality of the beverage and biscuit reflects the level of customer service.

 So what kind do your biscuits say about you? Are you a ‘here’s a cup of tea in a mug, but I’m not expecting you to stay, or come back, so there’s no effort put into this at all’? Or are you a ‘here’s a freshly brewed green tea and a duchy original shortbread biscuit’? Or somewhere in between?

 So what exactly is my point? Through our networking we are often asked to recommend companies who print / manufacture / import, so guess which companies immediately come to mind? It may not be the most efficient or even fair way of categorising companies, but if our only experience of you is your welcome, that’s what we take away with us.

 Have a think, I’ll wager you can think of 5 companies where you had such a nice welcome you’d be more than happy to travel there for a meeting, to recommend them on. I bet there are 5 more that you can think of right now that are the complete opposite.
